At PSCS, we don't just enroll students, we enroll families.
PSCS is a Washington state approved middle & high school and accepts applications for students entering grades 6-10. To be enrolled at PSCS is to be immersed in an ongoing process of collaboration that requires personal engagement and commitment to the community.
Please take a look through our Step-By-Step Guide to Applying (below). You can also see a full description of each step and due dates by visiting Ravenna, our online enrollment management system.

Step 1. Inquiry
The first step in the PSCS admissions process is to start an inquiry—either call us at 206-324-4350 or log in to Ravenna—and start a dialogue about your student(s). Note: we accept applications for grades 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10
Step 2. Admissions Open House(s)*
PSCS will host two informational Open Houses for the 2020-21 school year. Prospective families are invited to join us for tours of the school and to meet current students, staff, and community members. We will also hold Q&A, mini courses, and advising sessions for visitors to partake in. RSVP for an event via Ravenna.
- Fall Open House I: Saturday, October 19, 12-3pm.
- Fall Open House II: Tuesday, November 19, 6:30-8pm.
- Winter Open House: Tuesday, January 21, 6:30-8pm.
Attending an Open House is not a required step in the official admissions process.
Step 3. Morning Visit for Prospective Families
Morning Visitations are the best opportunity for prospective parents and students to tour PSCS with a current student, meet with senior administrative staff, and join us for our daily Check-in (an important part of our day). Visitors will learn more about PSCS, meet available teaching staff members and current students, and visit classes.
Morning Visitations are scheduled in groups on a specific day of the week from 8:40-11:40am. We consider these to be a critical part of our application process and we do occasionally schedule them outside of the regular admissions cycle. These are for the student and parent(s).
- Schedule a Morning Visitation via Ravenna.
*Attending a Morning Visit is a required step in the official admissions process.
Step 4. Early Enrollment for Siblings & Staff Families
- Early sibling application, fee, & preliminary materials deadline 11/22/19.
- Supplemental materials deadline 12/2/19.
- Early sibling decision mailed/posted 12/20/19.
Step 5. Online Application
All PSCS applications should be completed through our online enrollment system, Ravenna. You will create a login (or may have one already if you are applying to other independent schools) and then go through the steps as noted in the program.
- Application, fee, & preliminary materials deadline 1/16/20.
- Supplemental materials deadline 2/3/20.
Step 6. Tuition Aid Application
Please visit the Tuition Aid Info page before applying.
- Tuition Aid applications for the 2019-20 school year are due 2/6/20 (via FACTS).
- Subjective data letters for the Tuition Aid Committee are due 2/6/20 (via email).
Step 7. Applicant Full Day Visit
Applying students are required to participate in a full day applicant visit, by themselves, as part of the full application process. These visits are scheduled during the school week and are different in focus from Morning Visitation/Tours. During these visits, students will join us from 8:55am-3:40pm and will be paired up with a Student Ambassador to check in with during the day. Applying students will be given a locker and are asked to come prepared to choose and participate in that days slate of classes, as well as meet and interact with current students and staff.
You'll only be able to sign up for a Full Day Visit, once your student's preliminary application steps are complete.
- Full Day Visits can be scheduled via Ravenna
Step 8. Parent/Guardian Interview
Once your student has signed up for a Full Day Visit, parent(s)/gaurdian(s) will then also schedule a 45-minute Parent Interview. All involved parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to attend. Interviews will be conducted by Amy Hollinger, PSCS Head of School, and a member of the senior administrative staff. The purpose of this interview is threefold: to help us get to know your family better, gauge your understanding of our specific educational philosophy, as well asto provide parents and guardians the opportunity to discuss your child in greater depth and ask additional questions.
Parent and guardians will only be able to sign up for an interview, once a student's preliminary application steps and Full Day Visit have been completed.
- Parent/Guardian Interview's can be scheduled via Ravenna.
Step 9. Enrollment Decisions
After an application is complete, the applying student(s) has had a Full Day Visit, and parents/guardians have come in for their interview, enrollment decisions (accepted, not accepted, waitlisted) will be posted online in Ravenna by 12pm sharp. Tuition Aid decisions will be sent home the following week.
- High School decisions posted February 21, 2020.
- Middle School decisions posted March 20, 2020.
Step 10. Contract & Deposit
Once a student has been offered admission and decides to join the PSCS community, we require an enrollment contract and $1,000 deposit to hold that student's spot. If this deposit is a hardship for your family, please contact our Director of School Operations, Samuel Mitchell.
- High School contract and deposit due February 28, 2020.
- Middle School contract and deposit due March 27, 2020.
PSCS tuition has been set at $21,610 for the 2019-20 school year. The Board of Trustees agrees upon the tuition for the following school year each winter and a non-refundable deposit is due at the time an official enrollment agreement is signed. This deposit is credited toward the student’s final tuition. Families have the option of paying tuition in one lump sum or spreading the payments throughout the year. Check out our Installment Page for more information.
Tuition & Program Aid
Last year, PSCS awarded over $100,000 in aid to our current and incoming families. All admissions decisions are made independently of tuition aid decisions. To the extent that our funds permit, aid is available to qualifying students whose parents are able to establish financial need through the aid application process.
