PSCS PROFILES

Judy Blair
Board of Trustees

Judy Blair

Judy Blair walked into PSCS one day early in 2009 with the idea of learning more about the school. She walked out a few hours later as its new volunteer French teacher.

PSCS tends to have that effect on people. Once you set foot in the door and see the school’s unique philosophy in action, it’s almost impossible not to get involved.

“Failure is treated as an opportunity to learn, not as a shameful and disappointing experience,” Judy says. “Children are given the space the flourish and discover their authentic selves.”

Since then, Judy has volunteered to teach classes like Medieval Europe, Writing Essays, and Reading Genesis.

“There have been many memorable moments for me at PSCS,” Judy says, “but having a student tell me that my class got her to read a book for the first time in years—and that she enjoyed it—is a pretty good one. I also like the fact that I have students demanding grammar classes from me. I mean, where does that happen besides here?”

Judy serves as the school’s volunteer coordinator, and joined the Board of Trustees in 2010.

“To be honest, the best part about being on the board for me is that I get to hang out with a great group of people once a month and talk about something I love: PSCS.”
