PSCS students and staff are fully collaborative and, as such, we seek to enroll students who are interested in being active participants in their own education.

At PSCS, we don't just enroll students, we enroll families.

We encourage you to experience PSCS in-person. If you are considering PSCS, please look through the Step-By-Step Guide to Applying (below) and note that the first step  is to call or email the Admissions Office in order to start a dialogue about your prospective student. Please be prepared to tell us the name, age, current school, and interests of your student(s). We can also respond to any immediate questions you might have. The next step will be to schedule an appointment for a Morning Visitation. These visits are for parents and students and will provide you the opportunity to experience our community, staff, and educational philosophy in action.

Morning Visits for those interested in PSCS for the 2018-19 school year, will be scheduled in groups starting October 2017. We consider these to be a critical part of our application process. Please email our Director of Admissions in September to schedule yours.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Admissions Process

Step 1: Read the PSCS FAQ and call or email the Admissions Office to start a dialogue about your child.

Please be prepared to tell us your child's name, age, current school, current grade, some of their interests, and how your family discovered PSCS.

Step 2: Schedule a Morning Visit

Morning Visitations are the best opportunity for prospective parents and students to meet with our Director of Admissions, join us for our daily Check-in (an important part of our day), learn more about PSCS, meet available teaching staff members and current students, and visit some classes. Please read over the info regarding Morning Visits and email to schedule yours.

Step 3: Download and fill out the appropriate application

Please look over the Application Timeline before you send in your application. If you will be applying for financial support, please also look over the Tuition Aid Info.

Step 4: Creative Project

Prospective students must submit a Creative Project along with the written application. Creative Projects can be anything your student wants to submit that shows us something he/she is passionate about (or has interest in) at this time in their life. Creative Projects should be made specifically for this application to PSCS and should take a few hours or more to complete. Email or call with any questions.

Step 5: Send it in!

Mail or drop off completed application form, which includes both applicant & parent statements, along with the Creative Project and application fee to:

Sieglinde Levery-Nicholas
PSCS, Director of Advancement
660 South Dearborn Street
Seattle, WA 98134

Step 6: Applicant Visitation Day

Applying students are required to participate in an applicant visit (by themselves) as part of the application process. These visits take place during the school week (on a mutually agreed upon day)—and are different in focus from our standard visitation/tour days. During these visits, students are present without their parents and are strongly encouraged to participate in school activities, as well as meet and interact with current students and staff.

Step 7: Parent Interview

When we contact your family to confirm your applying student's visit, we will also schedule a 30-minute parent interview. All parents listed on the Family Information page of the application are expected to attend, and interviews are conducted at PSCS by Sieglinde Levery-Nicholas, Director of Advancement, and Andy Smallman, PSCS Founder/Director. The purpose of this interview is threefold: to help us get to know your family better, gauge your understanding of our specific educational philosophy, and to provide you with a personal opportunity to discuss your child in greater depth and ask us any additional questions.

Morning Visitation

We ask all guests to arrive on visitation days promptly at 8:40 a.m. Guests will join our Director of Admissions for a tour and a brief overview of the school philosophy.

At 9 a.m., everyone will join the circle for Check-in, the all-school meeting that starts our day. There, a student—we never know which one—will seize the moment and declare, “Check-in has started. Announcements?” Staff and students have the opportunity to share news, information, or reminders to the rest of the community.

The check-in leader will then offer space for appreciations. Inspired by the work of the Positive Psychology movement growing out of the University of Pennsylvania, this practice is designed to elevate everyone’s consciousness of the good things that are happening in their lives. It’s a short, simple, and incredibly powerful ritual.

After that, visitors will meet teaching staff and have the opportunity to explore classes and activities at their own pace, opening doors and observing and participating in activities that interest them. During this time, staff and students will be happy to answer any questions you might have about how the school works.

While we prefer that guests come on the scheduled visitation days (starting in October, 2017), we are sometimes able to accommodate visits at other times. If you would like to come to PSCS on a visitation day, or to schedule a visit at another time, please call or email the Admissions Office.

Tuition & Fees

PSCS tuition has been set at $19,980 for the 2017-2018 school year. The Board of Trustees agrees upon the tuition for the following school year winter and a non-refundable deposit is due at the time an official enrollment agreement is signed. This deposit is credited toward the student’s final tuition. Families have the option of paying tuition in one lump sum or spreading the payments throughout the year. Check out our Installment Page for more information.

Tuition & Program Aid

Last year, PSCS awarded over $100,000 in aid to our current and incoming families. All admissions decisions are made independently of tuition aid decisions. To the extent that our funds permit, aid is available to qualifying students whose parents are able to establish financial need through the aid application process.

For more, please take a moment to look over the Tuition Aid Info Page.
